Addressing Information Shortages

May 22nd, 2008 · 1 Comment

Infusion’s flagship research undertaking, The Frank Lifestyle Research Project, has been benefiting the business world for more than 2 years – providing insights and contextual information about one of South Africa’s most complex, promising and diverse, yet unexplored (from an information perspective) markets.

A long standing goal of the organisation has been to ensure that this information becomes available to a larger group of South Africans – from small business owners, government departments, NGOs to ordinary citizens – or broadly stated as anyone who could benefit from this kind of market intelligence.

Through innovative approaches to information sharing this process has started and the Infusion team has embarked on a number of small Information Dissemination projects – including a community radio intervention.  Commercial Talk Radio station 702 has also shown a real interest in the Frank information and its value to entrepreneurs; and Dr Melani Prinsloo, Founder of Infusion, has a frequent slot on Lee Bennie’s Wednesday evening show:  ‘A word on small business’.

With support from NGO’s such as ABC Ulwazi and Lifeline Southern Africa, Infusion will soon be hosting open presentations of the Frank research process and findings to Section 21 and non-governmental organisations that are active in the communities surveyed.

  • The communities that will form part of the 2008-2009 Frank research cycle include Soweto, Tembisa, Mamelodi, Soshanguve, Mangaung, KwaMashu, Khayelitsha, Mdantsane, New Brighton, Seshego, Tenteleni, KaNyamazane, Thlabane.

Not only will the organisations benefit from the data presented, they will have the opportunity to interact with the Infusion staff and contribute suggestions, questions and insights to strengthen future incarnations of the project.

Interested NGO’s can email adele@in-fusion.co.za to enquire about attendance of the first presentation, early July 2008.
